Audiovisuals are effective communication tools that can be used to convey
difficult concepts; to motivate, to demonstrate and to reinforce good health
and safety attitudes and habits. The Texas Department of State Health
Service's Audiovisual Library consists of videos, books, slide-tape, DVDs,
audio CDs, and CD-ROM programs on health and safety education topics. These
materials are available on a FREE loan (up to 10 days) basis to residents of
the state of Texas. The collection includes such topics as: Down syndrome,
Disabilities, Safety, Food Hygiene, Infant and Child Care, Breastfeeding,
Prenatal and Postpartum Care, AIDS, Aging and many others. For more

New Parent Guide Available from NDSS
A new 40-page comprehensive guide for new and expectant parents of children with Down syndrome entitled "A Promising Future Together" is now available from the National Down Syndrome Society. This free booklet is filled with information and resources to help new parents and their baby and it provides reassuring answers to common questions new parents have.

Partners Resource Network
Partners Resource Network (PRN) is a non-profit agency that operates the statewide network of federally funded Parent Training and Information Centers (PTI's) in Texas. The PTI Projects are: PATH, PEN, and TEAM.
The programs and services of PRN are based on the concept of parents helping parents. Our mission is to empower parents of children and youth with disabilities in their roles as parents, decision makers, and advocates for their children and to promote partnerships among parents and professionals.
