~ Sunday, May 10, 2009
It's that time again! Some of us are willing and wanting to take to the skies. For those who are interested, please see the Sky Dive San Marcos website at: http://www.skydivesanmarcos.com/index.html
then contact Danielle Worsfold or call Danielle at (512) 249-2380 or 585- 8694 (cell) to join the others who are raising funds for Down syndrome.
In 2005 - 10 jumpers raised $6,000
2006 - 11 jumpers raised $7,500
2007 - 5 jumpers raised $3,000
2008 - 15 jumpers raised $9,300
Total raised $25,800!
Each jumper is being asked to raise $850 each. $250 covers the cost of the jump and a DVD. $500 will go directly to DSACT. The final $100 covers any expensives incurred for food, drinks, and t-shirts.
Our goal is to have each person raise $1,000 if possible. Yes! You can do it! Invite and tell everyone you know; including: neighbors, friends, relatives, and co-workers.
Not ready to jump yet? No problem, come join the fun and support those who are taking on the skies!
We hope to see you there!

Casey Deegan, 32, and Kathy Kirkpatrick, 47,shattered stereotypes about Down syndrome and defyied anyone who place limitations on what they are or are not able to do.
Kathy's parents Janet and George, say that skydiving is nothing out of the ordinary for their courageous daughter, who has already overcome much in her life. "We've always been proud of Kathy," George said. Some of Kathy's other accomplishments include graduation from Lee High School in Midland, Texas and winning two gold meals and one silver in swimming at the 1983 Special Olympics.
This marks Casey's fourth tandem skydive. "If he wants to jump out of a plane, who am I to tell him no?" explains his father Mike Deegan. In the face of many questions, "What if he breaks his leg? What if he hurts himself?," Mike has only one response, ""What if he has the time of his life?"
"I love my son and I don't want anything bad to ever happen to him, but not to the point where nothing good ever happens to him either. I don't look at Casey first with DS. I look at Casey as an individual first and the disability second," Mike asserts.

3rd Annual Jump for Down syndrome Raises Over $3,000!
Most parents will do just about anything to help their child. On Saturday, April 28, 2007 five people took that to the extreme by jumping out of a plane. The third annual Jump! For Down Syndrome Awareness raised over $2700 to benefit the Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas (DSACT). As a DSACT board member Danielle Worsfold, whose daughter, Tyler, has Down syndrome, was looking for an innovative way to raise money and awareness for DSACT. After talking with friends about extreme fundraising, the Jump! For Down Syndrome fundraiser was born three years ago. Danielle had never been skydiving before the first Jump! in 2005. It was just something she had always wanted to try. Now she has jumped out of a plane three times – all for Tyler. Danielle said “Jumping is amazing. I still had the ‘oh my gosh I’m falling’ feeling. There were several people in front of me, so I heard the screams as they each jumped out. It was a little intimidating, but what a rush!”
